This all-day elopement in Pemberton was a beautifully curated experience, filled with small-town charm and local flair. From breakfast in bed and local brewery tastings to a scenic helicopter ceremony at Marriage Lake, every detail highlighted the amazing talent of Pemberton and Whistler’s small businesses, creating a memorable, intimate wedding day true to the couple’s relaxed style.
Even though K & C have been together for seven years and married for over three, their love is as strong now than the day they met. Right away I knew they were the perfect couple to explore the idea of a Pemberton elopement-styled session with.
This styled elopement in Pemberton was inspired by small town charm, a passion for intimate weddings, and the growing trend towards all day elopements.
There is an important movement toward living locally and keeping things small. But just because we are not traveling out of the country or even out of province does not mean that small destination weddings can’t still occur in our own backyards (sometimes literally!).
With this shoot I wanted to feature some of the amazing local small businesses in the Whistler/Pemberton area of BC that make this such an incredible place to live and to help couples connect. I loved the thought of showcasing the possibilities there are for couples to create a totally unique wedding day in this area while experiencing some of the hidden local gems.
We started the Pemberton elopement day off with breakfast in bed as a way to inspire a break from traditional wedding days. Thanks to the Pemberton Valley Inn, and Blackbird Bakery, we were able to create the relaxed comfort of starting an intimate wedding day, together…cozy, laid back and, in love.
Each detail of the day was designed to highlight the incredible talents of the local vendor community. From the custom elopement cookies by Love Letter Cookies to the cocktails crafted with Pemberton Distillery gin, we were able to not only support the small businesses of the region but also create a day that was fun, relaxed and true to who our bride and groom are as a couple.
Continuing with the Love Like a Local theme, K & C’s day had to include a visit to local brewery, The Beer Farmers, for a tasting flight experience followed by an intimate picnic featuring food by Good Grazing and styling/ florals by Blue Violet Events.
Whistler/Pemberton is usually chosen by couples for its incredible scenery, which, in my opinion, is best viewed from the air! Blackcomb Helicopters always goes above and beyond (see what I did there) with their COVID compliance regulations, and make us feel safe and comfortable each time we fly with them. Their new landing location at Marriage Lake was a no brainer when it came to choosing the perfect backdrop for K & C’s ceremony in the mountains.
After descending from the impossibly blue alpine lake, and taking in the sites from the helicopter windows on the way back down, we ended the day with a fireside first dance and s’mores that made for the cherry on top of K& C’s dream day. Our small town vibes and personal touches helped create a relaxed, professional, and authentic Pemberton elopement for the couple (even if it was their second time “marrying” one another!).
The sky’s the limit (but not actually cuz helicopters are a thing) when you make the bold decision to follow your hearts and create the absolute best day you can think of, that includes the person (or people) that you could not imagine experiencing life without. You deserve to be present & have fun knowing that your story will be documented with care. An elopement or intimate wedding day should be about your love, and what you love. From now until forever this date will be your anniversary. Let me help you create a memorable and meaningful experience to look back on for years to come!
