Malcolm Hotel Canmore Wedding: Love in the Rockies

Robbie and Norm journeyed back to the picturesque town where their love story began, Banff, to exchange vows. Their romantic journey included a pre-wedding photoshoot and a wedding celebration at the Malcolm Hotel in Canmore.

Robbie and Norm’s journey began in Banff, but now residing in British Columbia, they returned to Canmore for their wedding at the stunning Malcolm Hotel. Hailing from Scotland, Robbie had his family travel all the way to Canmore to celebrate their special day at the luxurious Malcolm Hotel. It was an awesome day, highlighted by the opportunity to capture stunning shots amidst the breathtaking landscapes of the Canadian Rockies.

How they met

Robbie and Norm’s love story commenced in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Banff. While both were employed in this picturesque town, their paths serendipitously intersected one memorable evening at a local nightclub. From that moment onwards, they embarked on a romantic journey, sealed by a lakeside date later that week. Throughout their time in Banff, they forged enduring memories and embarked on countless adventures. This led them to work multiple ski seasons together before transitioning to a new chapter in Vancouver.

I love meeting my wedding photography couples in person before their wedding day where possible. I got to meet up with Robbie and Norm when they made a day trip to Whistler. We sorted through the details of planning their wedding day and pre-wedding shoot. It was super exciting to be able to travel out to Alberta for their wedding.

Pre-Wedding Shoot in Banff

Robbie and Norm were eager to spend their special day surrounded by loved ones. They opted for a pre-wedding shoot in Banff, just two days before their wedding. Together with Rachel King, we traveled together for the day capturing breathtaking moments against the backdrop of Banff’s iconic lakes. Stops included Lake Minnewanka and the Banff Lookout over town. Robbie looked dashing in his traditional kilt, adding a touch of Scottish charm to their photoshoot.

The Wedding Day at the Malcolm Hotel

The wedding day kicked off with Robbie and Norm getting ready together with their wedding party in the luxurious suite at the Malcolm Hotel. They were then joined by their family, exchanging gifts and walking nearby to get their wedding photos over and done with before the ceremony.

With anticipation building, they embarked on a pre-ceremony shoot, capturing priceless moments with their nearest and dearest, followed by heartwarming family portraits. As the sun began to set, the couple exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains. That week we were incredibly lucky with the weather. Mild temperatures meant the ceremony could be hosted on the small patio outside the reception space.

Afterward, guests enjoyed a delightful cocktail hour, savoring delicious hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails. The evening continued with a memorable reception filled with heartfelt speeches, laughter, and love. As the night progressed, the dance floor came alive with the sounds of Scottish songs and favorite tracks, creating unforgettable moments that echoed the joy and celebration of Robbie and Norm’s union.

Robbie and Norm’s Banff wedding was a true reflection of their love story – adventurous, heartfelt, and joined by all their favourite people who traveled to be with them in Banff. With the breathtaking beauty of the Rockies as their backdrop and the support of their cherished friends and family, their wedding day was nothing short of special and an incredibly lively and fun day.
