Sarah and Shaun’s wedding at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) in Whistler was a day filled with love, laughter, and beautiful moments. As a Whistler wedding photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing their special day, and it was nothing short of magical. Having photographed numerous weddings at the SLCC, I used my familiarity with the venue to guide Sarah and Shaun through their special day, ensuring they made the most of this stunning location.
Sarah and Shaun have been together for 11 years, having met at an ice rink in the UK when they were just 18 and 19 years old. Their love story is one of adventure and deep connection. They’ve lived in Whistler for a long time, though they recently moved to Squamish, BC. Their bond is rooted in mutual admiration and lots of laughter. As Sarah put it, “I love how caring Shaun is. He’s very open and supportive and has never let me down when I needed him. I also love his sense of humor and the ways he can make me laugh!” Shaun echoes this sentiment, saying, “Sarah keeps me honest in life and makes me a better person in everything I do. She’s kind, always thinks of others before herself, and we have tons of fun together. No one makes me laugh as much as her!”
Their engagement story is just as heartwarming. Shaun proposed during a hike up Whistler in August 2021. He chose a quiet spot with a beautiful view of Blackcomb and illustrated “Will You Marry Me?” on his iPad. It was an intimate and thoughtful moment, perfectly capturing their low-key and loving nature.
Sarah and Shaun’s wedding day was all about creating a laid-back, rustic, and natural atmosphere. They wanted everyone to have a good time without stressing over the details. Their vision came to life beautifully at the SLCC, surrounded by the stunning Whistler landscape.
One of the highlights of the day was their first look and the private exchange of personal vows in the forest. This intimate moment allowed them to connect deeply before the ceremony. Sarah surprised Shaun with a pin featuring pictures of their lost family members, adding an emotional and personal touch. The forest is within walking distance of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre SLCC, making it an ideal spot for wedding couples to do a first look or photo portraits done.
The ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments, and the celebration that followed was a true reflection of their personalities. With a focus on creating a joyous and relaxed atmosphere, the day was perfect from start to finish.
A big shoutout to all the vendors who made Sarah and Shaun’s day so special:
