On their third anniversary of dating, I had the incredible privilege of joining Serena and Ron on their journey back to Whistler, BC, where they first got engaged, to capture the profound moments of their intimate elopement on the enchanting Ipsoot Glacier.
This was no ordinary wedding; it was a love story that unfolded amidst the pristine beauty of Whistler, a place deeply significant to this adventurous couple. Both Ron and Serena were remarkably family-oriented individuals, and the idea of a larger wedding initially danced in their minds. However, given the logistical complexities and the costs involved in planning two ceremonies for their families scattered across the globe – Serena’s in Korea and Ron’s in the US – they decided on a more intimate path, choosing a Whistler Elopement.
As a duo of introverts, they chose to embark on this new chapter in their lives with only each other, along with their adorable furry companion, Tipton. The journey commenced at the luxurious Four Seasons Whistler, where I documented the moments leading up to their elopement. From the tender exchange of custom Cartier rings to Serena’s heartwarming assistance with Ron’s tie and jacket, these moments were steeped in love and anticipation.
What was particularly touching was Serena’s solitude as she adorned her stunning wedding gown in a separate room, ensuring that a First Look with Ron could still take place before their Ipsoot Glacier elopement ceremony. The connection with their families was palpable as Serena FaceTimed her loved ones in Korea, who sent their heartfelt congratulations, all the while still in their pajamas. Then, Serena and Ron, with Tipton in tow, shared an emotional First Look, and I was there to capture every heartwarming second.
We did a few portraits in Whistler Village before taking off on Blackcomb Helicopters for their mountaintop elopement at Ipsoot Glacier. During their heartfelt vows, Ron teared up. I was warned that he’s a crier. And to be honest, I LOVE to see it. Feel those feelings, everyone!
This special couple plans to host receptions in their hometowns one day soon, but in the meantime, they’ll be able to share their photo gallery and elopement video. They plan to create wedding albums for each set of parents so they can share their special day with the people who mean the most to them.
I can’t emphasize enough what an honor it was to document this intimate celebration. These are the moments I cherish as a photographer, moments that become a part of people’s treasured memories. It was a day filled with love and emotions, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a part of it.
And just like during Ron and Serena’s Romantic Lakeside Park Proposal, I had the privilege of collaborating with the talented Rachel of Rachel King Films once again to ensure their Ipsoot Glacier Elopement was captured in all its splendor.
