This couple surprised their moms with a secretly planned intimate elopement in the Callaghan Valley with Alexander Falls as a backdrop to their love story.

Aimee and Jon had a beautiful Callaghan Valley elopement with Alexander Falls as their witness. They had been together for a while and had already hit a lot of relationship milestones. Traveling; check. Buying a house; check. Having a baby; check. When it came to getting married having a big wedding just did not seem to suit them. So they kept putting it off and putting it off until one day they realized that a wedding can be whatever they want to make it.

Planning a surprise elopement

A and J live in Vancouver now, but neither are local to the area originally. As many Vancouverites they each moved to the area from their home towns in different parts of the country. As such, once they had their first baby both of their mothers were eager to come and meet their grandchild. This sparked an idea in the couples heads. Why not surprise their moms with an intimate elopement day while they visited?

The plan worked perfectly. A and J invited their mothers to come and visit at the same time and treated them with a weekend getaway in Whistler at Nita Lake Lodge. They then planned an “outing” for the family to visit one of Callaghan Valley’s most beautiful sites; Alexander Falls. Because of their daughter’s car seat the couple weren’t able to drive their moms in the same car, meaning that they would come separately. This would give A and J just enough time to get changed into their elopement attire in the parking lot before their moms arrived for the big surprise.
